Questions about official Smyth County criminal records belong with the office that created or maintains the file. The contacts below separate court orders from police reports, regional-jail bookings, and Virginia repository checks. This private resource cannot accept a records request or change a public file. Use the named government office, confirm its current instructions, and provide a case or incident number when one is known.

This Is Not a Government Office. This private resource cannot retrieve an official record, perform an official check, correct a file, or receive an expungement petition. Contact the responsible public office.

Direct a Smyth County request according to the record and its custodian:

  • Circuit criminal files: Smyth Circuit Court Clerk, 109 W. Main St., Suite 1081, Marion, VA 24354, (276) 782-4044, weekdays 9:00-5:00
  • District criminal files: Smyth General District Court Clerk, Suite 1022 at the same courthouse, (276) 782-4047, weekdays 8:00-4:00
  • Sheriff reports: FOIA Officer Carly Greer, 626 S. Main St., Marion, VA 24354, crgreer@smythcounty.org, (276) 781-2349
  • Booking and local custody: Abingdon Regional Jail, 15205 Joe Derting Drive, Abingdon, VA 24210, (276) 739-3520
  • Virginia repository checks: Virginia State Police CARE, 7700 Midlothian Turnpike, North Chesterfield, VA 23235, using the current SP-167 instructions
  • Town police reports: contact Marion, Saltville, or Chilhowie Police directly when that department wrote the report

The Sheriff's current headquarters is on South Main Street, not the former Matson Drive address. For a court disposition, call the clerk for the court shown in OCIS. For a town incident report, do not assume the County Sheriff has the town police file.
